Adding CSS3 properties to CSSEdit’s auto-completion

Today, MacRabbit pushed out the first update for CSSEdit since early 2008, which had me hopeful that they’d updated the automatic syntax completion to match that of Espresso. Alas, I was unsurprised to find that they hadn’t.

After searching Twitter to find out what the actual changes were in 2.6.1, I stumbled upon a link to an article by Andy Ford of Aloe Studios from back in August 2008 offering an updated Preference List file to which he had added some extra handy snippets adding to the auto-completion.

Thanks to Andy, I now offer you a further-updated .plist file with many of the current CSS3 properties, including the many -webkit and -moz specific properties. I’ve also added the necessary properties for animation/transformation and gradients, and after reading Tim Van Damme’s post about -webkit-font-smoothing, I added the properties for those as well.

Well, I was just about to release when I came across this extensive listing of -webkit properties; 95 to be exact which I have just added to the .plist.

Download includes the modified .plist, a backup of the .plist found in CSSEdit 2.6.1 and a README.

To install, browse to CSSEdit.app, right-click and select ‘Show Package Contents’, navigate into ‘Resources’ within the ‘Contents’ folder and simply copy the AutoComplete.plist file. Select ‘Replace’ when prompted by Finder.
